With a state wide referee shortage, our kids rely on parents and community members stepping up to referee and run the lines for matches when we are not allocated an official referee. Without our volunteers, our kids simply cannot play, and we appreciate every effort to keep games running.

For those who are keen to increase their knowledge and confidence in taking on these volunteer roles, you can register as a learner on Playfootball and access the free online resources available to all referees when they are starting out their accreditation.

REGISTERING AS A LEARNER

  1. Login to Playfootball (where you registered your player), and register yourself for Learner Vic.
    • You will need to upload your Working with Children Check
    • There is no cost to register

FREE "LAWS OF THE GAME" COURSE ONLINE:

  1. Login to etrain (see above)
  2. Go to Training Library > Referees > Laws of the Game
  3. Complete the modules in the Laws of the Game course

This will give you the basic knowledge to take on volunteer assistant referee and centre refree duties.

Practice is the BEST way to learn, so speak to your team's coach and offer to Ref or AR some practice games to get your confidence up.

If you wish to progress to paid courses and become an accredited referee, continue on with additional modules and visit https://footballvictoria.com.au/referees for more information.
